Solunum yolu hastalıkları en sık karşılaşılanları nezle ve griptir. Halk arasında nezle ya da tıp dilinde nazofarenjit denen burun akıntısı, burun tıkanıklığı hafif boğaz ağrısı, kırgınlık gibi şikayetlerle seyreden hafif seyirli hastalık tablosundan kırgınlık, kas ağrısı, terleme, bulantı kusma, 40C’ yi bulan yüksek ateşle seyreden ve çalışma hayatımızda iş gücü kayıplarına yol açan tablolarla kaşıımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu viral veya bakteriyal enfeksiyonlar çoğu zaman salgına dönüşerek insandan insana bulaşabilme yetisindedir.
Korunmak için hasta bireylerin hasta olmayan bireylerle direk temastan (tokalaşma, öpüşme, ortak kullanılan malzemelerin başkalarıyla paylaşımı) kaçınmasını ve özellikle diyetine dikkat etmesi önerilmektedir. Bu dönemlerde günlük beslenme düzenine taze sebze ve meyve eklemek, vitamin desteği yapmak ve uyku düzenine dikkat etmek büyük önem taşımaktadır. Diğer direnç arttırıcılarla birlikte C, A, E vitaminlerinin kullanımının yararlı olduğu bilinmektedir.
Mevsim geçiş dönemlerinde oluşan sıcaklık farklılıkları cilt sağlığını da etkilemektedir. Bu dönemlerde ciltte yağ ve su kaybı yaşanmakta bu nedenle ciltte hassasiyet oluşmakta ve cilt yüzeyinde kuruma, pullanma ve çatlamalar görülebilmektedir. Cildimizde kurumaya engel olmak için kremli, yağlı jeller ve sabunlar kullanılmalıdır. Cilt tipine uygun vazelin, gliserin, üre, laktik asit, hyaluronik asit içeren nemlendiriciler seçilerek özellikle banyo sonrası ve soğuk maruziyeti sonrası sık aralıklarla sürülmelidir. Cilt bakımı için sağlıklı beslenmeye özellikle vitamin antioksidanlar, mineraller, doymamış yağlar, omega-3 alımı önerilir. Bol su tüketilmesi önerilir.
